Content Producer (Writer/Author/Editor)

Red Line Editorial is currently seeking full-time or part-time Content Producers to join our high-energy team of publishing professionals.

RLE creates high-quality books for K-12 educational publishers on a variety of subjects as well as online sports content for high-profile clients.

Our content producers perform vital roles in the various types of content we produce. On any given day, a content producer might be a nonfiction book author, a sportswriter, a copy editor, a fact-checker, and more.

The best candidates will have a knack for storytelling, with the ability to incorporate detail, accuracy, and narrative in explaining a broad range of topics. Strong research and organizational skills are a must, as is the ability to work on tight deadlines while balancing multiple projects.

This position will be primarily focused on research and writing but will include some other editorial tasks. The role may evolve to include developmental editing and light page layout work as well.

Duties may include:
–Researching nonfiction topics across K-12 curriculum
–Writing book manuscripts and online posts on a broad range of topics, including science, math, history, geography, sports, and more, at a variety of lengths and reading levels
–Writing and editing online sports news articles (may require evening/weekend shifts)
–Other editorial duties, including copy editing, fact-checking, photo research, proofreading, manuscript rewriting, and index creation

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
–BA or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, English, History, or equivalent
–Ability to write in a variety of styles and to match specifications provided for each project
–Ability to write quickly without sacrificing quality
–Strong researching skills, both online and in a library setting
–Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
–Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style and AP Style
–Ability to work independently and in a team environment
–Ability to take constructive criticism and to revise and rework material based on feedback
–Excellent oral and written communication skills
–Experience with writing leveled text preferred
–Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred

This position will be on-site in our Burnsville office.

Compensation: Low 30s DOQ, plus a full benefits package for FT hires; equivalent hourly rate for part-time work.
